DR A D EVANS & PARTNERS – LLANGOLLEN HEALTH
CENTRE
COVID-19 - PATIENT UPDATE NO
2
There are still no confirmed cases of
Coronavirus in our local area at the moment.
However, we are
constantly monitoring the situation and have put
in place some further precautionary measures to
safeguard our patients and staff in addition to
those we informed you of last week.
fever, cough or cold, have recently travelled to
an affected area or have had contact with a confirmed
case of Coronavirus) should self-isolate and
ring either 111 or NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.
Advice on
how to self-isolate is given at the end of this
update.
Public Health Wales are asking travellers returning from Italy, China, Thailand, Japan, South Korea,
Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Macau,
Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Iran to
check the updated guidance on their website
at:
https://phw.nhs.wales/topics/latest-information-on-novel-coronavirus-covid-19/advice-for-travellers
We continue to ask that, if you have fever,
cough or cold symptoms, have recently travelled to any of the countries
listed above or have been in close contact with a confirmed case of
Coronavirus, please do not attend the health centre.
Members of the public can help
protect themselves and others by always carrying tissues, and using
them to catch coughs or
sneezes. They should bin the tissue, and to kill the germs, wash their
hands
with soap and water, or use a
sanitiser gel. This is the best way to slow the spread of most
germs,
including Novel Coronavirus
(COVID-19).
taking.
Our aim is to continue to provide care for all our patients whilst
maintaining the health
centre itself as a safe environment for those
that need it.
The further precautionary measures that we have
put in place are:
Patients are being offered future routine
consultations in the form of pre-booked telephone
consultations only. Our triage system for urgent medical issues
remains the same. Please be
assured
that patients who are assessed by a GP as
needing a face to face consultation will still be offered one
but by restricting the number of non-urgent
patients in the health centre we are safeguarding those
who really do need to be seen, and who are
potentially the most vulnerable.
Patients who are requesting routine nurse
appointments are being asked to contact us again in a
couple of weeks or to visit our website for
updates. Patients can ask to speak to a
nurse about their
appointment request if they wish, especially if
the request relates to contraception or other essential
medication.
All minor surgery is being postponed for the
time being.
At the moment we are still seeing patients who
booked their routine appointments prior to 9th
March
but please be aware that, if Coronavirus does
spread to our local area, we may need to change these
to telephone consultations.
We thank you for your
cooperation and understanding during this challenging time.
