One of Westheads lads in hospital after being hurt in accident

* The Westheads' Facebook post.

One of the three Llangollen area teenagers making a mammoth cycling trip to Thailand has been involved in an accident as they pedalled through China.

They give the bad news in their latest daily video diary in which they say 18-year-old Dyfan Hughes from Llangollen is currently being treated in hospital for his injuries but is in a stable condition.

Mates Dyfan Hughes, Louis Dennis, 19, from Garth, and James Thomas, also 19, from Wrexham, are making their mammoth journey in aid of the British Heart Foundation in memory of Tony Edge, the father of their friend Harrison, who died following a heart attack in 2024.

In the video log they say: "We didn't expect to be making this post

"Dyfan has been in an accident and we are currently in hospital. He has a head, neck and leg injury but he's stable and in one of the best places in the world for this kind of accident to get the best recovery out of him.

"We don't know what this means for the trip right now but one thing is for sure, we will stick together and when we arrive in Chang Nai, Thailand it will be the three of us no matter how long it takes. We will give more updates in the next few days. Thank you."

The lads and their journey have a large social media following and the post has so far attracted hundreds of likes and comments.
