Eisteddfod coffee morning raises over £400 for flood-hit Nepal

Big-hearted supporters filled the competitors' building on the Eisteddfod field this morning (Monday) to raise over £400 for the people of Nepal suffering the effects of last week's devastating flash flooding.

Trustee Karen Price organised a special coffee morning offering cakes, a raffle with lots of prizes plus a bric-a-brac sale, with all the proceeds going towards supporting people affected by the disaster.

At the end of the event, which saw raffle prizes donated by local businesses, Karen admitted that she had only expected to raise about £50 from it but said she was delighted to see the final total reach over the £400 mark and she thanked everyone who came along to give their support."  

Prior to the event, Eisteddfod chair John Gambles ad said: “Llangollen stands with Nepal. We have been shocked and deeply saddened by the scale of this disaster, and our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected.

“Our Eisteddfod was founded on bringing people and nations together through friendship, peace and understanding. At times like this, those values matter more than ever."
