The Mayor of Llangollen, Cllr Damon Richards-Gwilliam, is calling on local people to vote for New Dot Cinema as they compete for the BIFA Cinema of the year award, with just one week left of voting.
The award, part of the British Independent Film Awards, recognises cinemas that play an important role in their local communities, with the winner decided through a public vote.
Cllr Richards-Gwilliam said: “It’s been fantastic to see New Dot Cinema brought back to life and become part of the community again. Behind that is a huge amount of work from a team of volunteers, all giving their time because of their love for film and commitment to ensuring New Dot thrives.
“New Dot is something the whole town can be proud of, and this award is a great opportunity to recognise the people who have worked so hard to make it happen. I’d encourage everyone to get behind them and cast your vote, whether you’re a regular cinema-goer or simply want to support a great community project.
“Let’s show them that the town is behind them!”
Voting closes next Monday, September 21.
