Rehearsals are going swimmingly for Llangollen Operatic Young 'Uns' latest show, Disney's The Little Mermaid.
The lavish production, with music by Alan Menken and book by Doug Wright, takes to the Town Hall stage from Thursday to Saturday February 26-28, including a Saturday matinee.
The Little Mermaid is a beloved part of so many people's childhoods, whether because of the original book, the first Disney cartoon, the direct-to video-sequels, or the most recent live action remake.
It is set In a magical underwater kingdom where the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home – and her fins – behind and live in the world above.
But first, she'll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she's the girl whose enchanting voice he's been seeking.
A spokesperson for the production team said: "Bringing The Little Mermaid (Music Theatre International Broadway Junior), where the cast are meant to be under the sea for most of the action, comes with a massive weight of expectation and excitement for the Young 'Uns. But rehearsals are going very well and we think it's going to be a great show."
