Factory demolition now in final stages

Demolition work on the former Dobson & Crowther factory off the A5 in Llangollen now appears to be in its final stages, as this picture shows.

With the riverside site now all but cleared llanblogger contacted Sainsbury's about the next stage of the project, and a spokesman replied: "J Ross have to construct the store before handing it over to us for fit out.
 
"They do not have a confirmed date for this but I believe it will be later in the year."

    6 Jan 2014: “We are delighted to be coming to Llangollen and are looking forward to opening the new Sainsbury’s food store. We will continue talking to local people about how Sainsbury’s can work together with all Llangollen Town Centre stakeholders and we will be starting to recruit new colleagues ahead of the store opening in 2015.”

    What a difference 15 months makes - not to mention the absence of a huge hoarding saying, "New Sainsbury's store opening here 2015". At least the latter would allow them to elide from Spring 2015, earliest quoted date, to Christmas 2015, latest quoted date, without too much loss of faith and face. Perhaps "New Sainsbury's store opening this year, next year, some time, never" would be the safest option. That's been the exact case in Haverfordwest, Aberystwyth, Mold ...
